    Rawah Gust Ranch in Glendevey, CO is looking for a dedicated, hardworking, and responsible Wrangler to join our staff for the current ranch season which runs May 1st through October 5th, with the possibility of a full-time position following the end of the season. Applicants must be available for the duration of the season, with flexibility for minor travel if already scheduled and coordinated in advance with management and team members (weddings, etc.).

    The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities:

    • Possesses a hardworking and self-driven work ethic • Safety conscious

    • Understands and prioritizes work-related responsibilities before and above personal recreation/free-time

    • Follows instructions and works cooperatively with management and coworkers

    Job Duties:

    The Wrangler will work together and with head wrangler and ranch management, to provide the highest quality of horse care and guest experience. He/she will be responsible for helping a team of up to five wranglers. The daily operations of cleaning corrals, doctoring, providing care for a string of approx. 60 horses and maintaining a neat and orderly barn/corral.

    In addition to the above, regular tasks include, but are not limited to:

    • Lead twice daily guest rides (walking, trotting and loping rides on various terrains with a broad range of guest experience levels with durations of one hour up to overnight trips) with professionalism and positivity

    • Help with managing the rotation and irrigation of pastures

    • Track and keep detailed account of time spent on Wilderness and Natural Forest Land

    • Lead and participate in weekly special riding events (overnight camping trip rides, cowboy breakfast rides, etc.), including set-up, tear down and event hosting

    • Provide general ranch maintenance (fencing, trail clearing, new trail construction, etc.)

    • Work cooperatively with management and team mates to manage horse care throughout the season (feed/water/barn cleaning/grooming, etc.) to include weekends and off-days as assigned

    • Maintain consistent “cowboy/cowgirl” appearance, including proper attire (boots, hats, chaps, uniform shirts, etc.) in order to provide the best guest experience

    • Ability to perform any additional barn/ranch projects as assigned by ranch management

    ALL Staff Members:

    • ALL members of the Rawah Guest Ranch staff will be asked to fill additional roles on the ranch in other departments as necessary (I.e., supporting the Rawah Kids Program, Front Desk, etc.)

    • ALL members of the Rawah Guest Ranch staff will be assigned to host and participate in multiple evening activities and special events throughout the week

    Requirements:

    • Minimum of two years of wrangling experience (leading group rides, working on a barn staff, etc.) or equivalent

    • Extensive and recent experience working with and caring for horses

    • Stand/walk for long periods of time without breaks, bend, push, pull and lift 50-100lb hay bales with ease

    • Fluency in English

    • HS Diploma or equivalent

    • Wrangling Safety Certification – the ranch will sponsor this certification for hired team members prior to the season’s start if you do not have this certification.

    • Knowledge of the Rawah Wilderness Area is helpful, but is not required

    Job Duties:

    • Organize, schedule and facilitate daily offered ranch activities for ranch guests, including but not limited to:

    o Fly fishing

    o Trap/target shooting

    o Hiking, camping/backpacking

    o Mountain biking o Stand up paddle boarding, flat bottom boat and paddle boats

    o Wildlife observation

    • Survey guests every evening and ensure all guests are signed up for their desired activities for the following day

    • Communicate with Management and appropriate staff members so that entire team is aware of the daily/weekly schedule and desired guest activities for the following day

    • Cross-train in other ranch departments to assist with operations on the ranch as needed (I.e., serving/hospitality, Kids Program, front desk, etc.)

    Job Duties:

    This crew member will hold a number of positions on the ranch, functioning as a cross-trained staff member with a few specific tasks, and a role that will require him/her to assist in other departments depending upon guest and staff needs each week.

    Primary Tasks:

    • Photography, video, and media – the crew member will be responsible for taking guest pictures upon arrival/departure and capturing daily activities and evening events (picture/video) to build the ranch’s media database for use in marketing and on social media

    • Work closely with Ranch Administrator to manage the front desk and facilitate a smooth check-in and check-out process for all guests, to include: o Welcoming guests upon arrival, giving a brief guest orientation, and answering guest billing questions and responding to special requests

    • Serve as on-call ranch EMT (if applicable) - candidates with EMT licensing will be given top priority Support Other Staff Departments:

    • Provide daily support to Kids Program Director in facilitating the Rawah Kids Program during peak season

    • Provide daily support the Activities & Events Director by helping facilitate evening events and special activities

    ALL Staff Members:

    Job Duties:

    The server/hospitality team member will alternate between the server/kitchen staff and hospitality teams throughout the season (I.e., one week on, one week off) to allow some differentiation in responsibilities.

    Server/Kitchen Staff:

    • Play key role as member of the service staff in providing the highest quality guest dining experience for cocktail hour and daily meals

    • Prepare and deliver accurate daily coffee service to guest cabins as requested

    • Keep accurate inventory of liquor, beer, and wine products sold to guests in addition to all-inclusive beverages and reflect accurate sales on final guest bills at check-out

    • Control all aspects of the service flow as a team and work cooperatively with kitchen staff to complete all cocktail hour and meal-related tasks (table settings, lodge prep, service, dish washing, etc.)

    • Gain comprehensive knowledge of ranch food and beverage menus, ingredients, appearance and food preparation

    • Manage dining area set-up, cleaning, and re-sets before/after each meal

    • Work with your team mates to clean and maintain orderly lodge bathrooms, staff lounge, kitchen/dishwashing station, guest dining area, and lodge.

    Hospitality:

    • Maintain clean and orderly guest accommodations by providing daily room service and responding promptly and professionally to guest requests for additional amenities (extra pillows, wine glasses, etc.)

    • Daily cleans will include bathroom cleaning, bed-making, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash cans, replenishing towels, collecting dishes, etc.

    • Complete cabin cleaning and turnover following guest departure

    • Cabin refreshment in preparation for arriving guests (fresh flowers, guest gifts, etc.)

    • Working cooperatively with service-hospitality team mates to complete daily/weekly projects (ongoing linen laundry, organization, reporting maintenance issues, etc.)

    Job Duties:

    Activities & Events/Kids Program Director will alternate between running the Rawah Kids Program and functioning as an Activities Guide, dependent upon guest needs from week to week.

    Kids Program Director:

    • Organize and facilitate Kids Program activities for children of all ages during program hours (8:45-12pm, daily)

    • Develop different daily activities such as: facilitating Tiny Hiny farm excursions, coordinating children’s rides with Wranglers, planning and ordering supplies for ranchstyle crafts (I.e., making moccasins, making cowboy bolo ties, etc.), facilitating kids games and events (I.e, panning for gold, yard games, etc.).

    • Individual ownership and initiative in Kids Program development is strongly encouraged

    • Using creativity to ensure our youngest guests are well taken care of and having fun when their parents enjoy morning ranch activities

    • Ensure that the Kids Program is not a “babysitting service” and seek to give young guests an excellent dude ranch experience through age-appropriate activities Activities & Events Director:

    • Work closely with Ranch Management to coordinate and host evening special events and nightly activities and taking lead as one of the primary ranch hosts alongside Ranch Managers

    • Ensure that each nightly event is prepped and staffed; work with management to ensure that Rawah staff members are alternately assigned to nightly events and delegate appropriate responsibilities

    • During weeks/days that there are no guests interested in taking advantage of the Kids Program, the Activities & Events Director will serve as a guide for activities such as archery, guided hiking, yoga instruction, etc.

    • Employ his/her culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ dining experiences and satisfaction

    • Must be versatile in the kitchen with a good knowledge of all phases of operation

    • Additional kitchen duties as assigned: dish washing, food prep, kitchen cleaning/maintenance, menu planning, etc.

Applicants must be available for the duration of the season. For this position, we are open to hiring part- or full-time.

    Job Duties:

    The ranch Maintenance Technician will be responsible for all ranch-related maintenance and will report directly to ranch Management. Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Upkeep and special maintenance on all ranch cabins and buildings

    • Yard and property maintenance – watering, wood chopping, and mowing

    • Ranch and barn repairs – fencing, etc.

    Requirements:

    • Demonstrated maintenance, construction and grounds keeping experience, or equivalent skill in plumbing, electrical, heating, fencing, etc.

    • Professional recommendations – 2 minimum

    • Stand/walk for long periods of time without breaks, bend, kneel, push/pull and lift 50lbs or more with ease

    • Fluency in English; other languages are beneficial

    • HS diploma or equivalent

    • If applying for part time: Reliable transportation to and from work

    The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities:

    • Possesses a hardworking and self-driven work ethic

    • Understands and prioritizes work-related responsibilities before and above personal recreation/free-time

    • Follows instructions and works cooperatively with management and coworkers

    • Able to independently identify and complete additional tasks that have not been assigned by management in order to support the entire staff

    • Ability to relate well with children, adults and team mates in a professional and serviceoriented manner

    • Positive attitude with ability to demonstrate flexibility and adjust to shifting responsibilities as unexpected tasks arise (and they will!)

    • Willingness to work beyond specified hours during busiest weeks of the year and/or as other team members need coverage for personal travel/emergencies

    ALL Full Time Staff Members:

    • ALL full time staff members will be asked to fill additional roles on the ranch in other departments as necessary (I.e., supporting the Rawah Kids Program, Front Desk, etc.)

    • ALL full time staff members will be assigned to host and participate in multiple evening activities and special events throughout the week
