Discover Hiking Trails for Every Skill Level
With six hikes available right on our property grounds, hiking at Rawah is easy! Ask our staff for an area map to hike on your own, or ask one of our ranch guides to accompany you. Our guides are familiar with the area and will recommend a hike tailored to your interests and skill level. Along the way, they will share tidbits of information about the local flora, fauna, and the area’s history. So, whether you want to hike solo or with a guide, spending a day on the trails is one of our favorite ways to experience the diverse wilderness areas surrounding the ranch.
The Valley
Difficulty: Easy
Distance: 4 Miles
The Valley is a leisurely hike suitable for all skill levels, taking you through the valley floor and past towering aspen trees. Walk the entire four-mile path or turn around at any point for a shorter walk.
Lily Pond
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Distance: 2.5 Miles
If you are looking for a chance to spot a moose during your visit, the Lily Pond trail is the route for you. Navigate moderate inclines and be rewarded with stunning scenery and a scenic lily-pad-covered pond, which moose are known to frequent.
Overlook
Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Distance: 2.5 Miles
Hike up the Overlook Trail and soak in panoramic views of the ranch and the valley floor. This is a great trail for breathtaking views without the effort of some of our longer trails.
Ditch
Difficulty: Moderate
Distance: 5 Miles
The Ditch trail can be found on the west ridge line above the ranch, following a scenic stream surrounded by the Rawah Mountains. Set out on this hike with one of our ranch guides and learn about the unique history of the Rawah Diversion Ditch.
Waterfall
Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
Distance: 5 Miles
Access the Waterfall trail from the Rawah Trailhead and hike challenging inclines and ledges to get to a hidden waterfall in the mountains. Take a break once you’ve arrived to admire the views and listen to the peaceful sounds of the cascading water.
Skyline
Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
Distance: 4.5 Miles
If you are looking for a challenging hike on the property, we recommend taking the Skyline trail. Hike up inclines and ledges to the summit of the ridge and enjoy views of the ranch, valley, and mountains from the top.
