Practice your marksmanship with professional instruction at our luxury guest ranch shooting and archery ranges in Colorado. Our Activities Coordinators will walk you through firearm safety, range rules, and safe handling and shooting techniques while you try your hand at shooting skeet and target shooting with the .22 rifles against a breathtaking Rawah Valley backdrop. Feel free to try your hand at the Archery range, where you will be able to practice with the bows, as well as throwing Tomahawks and Throwing Knives!
This is an activity where you will use a 20-gauge shotgun to simulate hunting across the plains. An orange clay pigeon is machine launched in the air which mimics the feel and flight of a bird. Although this is a bit more challenging in the realm of shooting sports, the rush and excitement of firing the shotguns and shattering a target mid-flight is second to none on our range. If you’re looking for an exciting and explosive activity, this is the one for you!
For this shooting exercise, you will first be instructed on how to properly sight in the rifle, and then move on to aiming and shooting at a series of still targets in the field. Participants will have the opportunity to shoot at both paper and steel targets (or “pingers” as we call them) and will be able to take their targets home with them as badges of honor and prestige from their time with us! This is a crowd favorite, and one of the most family-friendly activities that we offer at Rawah Ranch in Western Colorado.
Our Archery range boasts an assortment of targets where you can use both recurve and compound bows. These include straw and canvas bags, mock game targets, and a collection of others as well! New to the range this year is Tomahawk and Knife throwing, which has quickly become one of the most popular activities ranch wide. Think you and your guests are up for the challenge? Come toss a few to find out!
No, we are happy to teach you! Our Luxury guest ranch staff is well trained, and NRA certified in all methods of safe handling and shooting.
This depends on the kids themselves, but for the most part anyone over the age of 8 should be safe to take part in most of our shooting activities.
All of our Colorado ranch activity guides are professionally trained on gun safety and review all safety rules with guests before shooting. Our current Activities Director is a 7-year NRA certified Rifle/Shotgun/Archery Shooting Instructor, and trains with all the staff to ensure the safety of everyone out on the ranges.
No. Our luxury ranch does not allow any outside guns on property for safety reasons. We will provide the guns as well as the ammo needed for the activities on our ranges.

Rawah Ranch provides 20 gauge and 4-10 shotguns for skeet shooting and a .22 rifle for target shooting. Our bows are either re-curve or compound bows, and we have kid and adult bows and even a few left-handed ones!
